Equipping and Connecting Disciples to Deepen Their Prayer Lives

The mission of The Upper Room Living Prayer Center is to help individuals, small groups and local congregations grow in their understanding and experience of prayer. For more than 33 years, we've had a single purpose: to help disciples of Christ experience the living, transformative power of prayer. Intercessory prayer is not something that "just happens." That's why we've created a way for the thousands who need prayer to connect with prayer partners who are called and trained to meet those needs.

We Connect Callers to a Powerful Prayer Network

Our ministry is dedicated to fulfill the mission of Galatians 6:2:

Bear one another's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.

Funding for the toll-free line is provided by The Upper Room, United Methodist Men groups, and individual gifts.

Prayer volunteers across the world are a vital part of the prayer ministry. Upper Room Covenant Prayer Groups and individual prayer partners, chartered after an application process and minimal study period, receive prayer requests weekly … There are now over 300 Covenant Prayer Groups across the United States and abroad.

How The Center Works

Each day, hundreds of people request prayer by calling the Living Prayer Center's toll-free number 1-800-251-2468 (available 7 am - 11 pm) and submit prayers through our website. The phone lines are answered by Phone Volunteers who answer the call, pray with the caller, and forward the prayer concern to our Prayer Partners for additional prayer.

To become a phone volunteer or a prayer partner, all you need is compassion for others, a vital Christian experience out of which to share with others, and a desire to grow in your own prayer life.

As your heart connects with callers, you will make notes about their specific needs before praying with them. This information is then shared with our Covenant Prayer Groups around the world, who will continue to pray for the caller.

To become a phone volunteer, all you need is a vital Christian experience out of which to share with persons who call, and a desire to grow in your own prayer life.
